For example, we may design a large table to use solid wood along the edges to maximize durability along the places that get the most wear and tear but use veneer in the middle to reduce cost. We’d also make the two types indistinguishable.

For example, we use Festool Domino joiners (which far exceed dowels or biscuit joiners in strength) and expansion washers (which decrease wood mobility when using screws).
