Not all custom wood furniture is made equally – it all comes down to the fabricator, and there are a few reasons you should go with RFP.

Using wood as the base of your custom design project already comes with a long list of benefits – it’s an extremely versatile material (just read back through this blog to learn more about the various types, grains, qualities and finishing styles wood can offer). And if you’re in need of a simple and quick design solution, there are plenty of prefabricated pieces from topnotch designers out there.

But if you’ve chosen to go the custom route (and we applaud you!) – there are a few ways working with a manufacturer like RFP will help to make your project the best it can be, and to help your budget stretch even farther. Here are a few examples of how RFP takes wood projects to the next level:

  • Custom manufactures can blend wood types and mix wood qualities so that a piece can have a premium look but a modest price. For example, we may design a large table to use solid wood along the edges to maximize durability along the places that get the most wear and tear but use veneer in the middle to reduce cost. We’d also make the two types indistinguishable.
  • We use superior equipment and fabrication methods, exceeding industry standards. For example, we use Festool Domino joiners (which far exceed dowels or biscuit joiners in strength) and expansion washers (which decrease wood mobility when using screws). This is the level of detail and excellence to which a reputable custom manufacturer will strive to make your piece last as long as possible.
  • If you don’t have the material yourself, we have substantial industry connections to help source the right material for the job at a competitive price. We often do this for our clients – once we have a colour range or reference image, we can provide a sample and confirm material orders before beginning construction. Want to get a quote started? We wish you the best of luck on your project, and let RFP know how we can help!
