THE DESIGN PLAN

Since it was founded in 2000, the Toronto-based e-commerce company Points has been building some of the most popular
loyalty programs for consumers and retailers. Today, Points loyalty solutions are helping over one billion users transform
their consumer habits into rewards, earnings, and a greater level of satisfaction with their choices through partnerships with
brands like Air Miles, Hilton, Air Canada and Marriott.

RFP was engaged to design and execute a key element of both function and aesthetic in the Points office – custom drapery
to serve as adjustable room dividers for a varied and innovative use of space, from large gathering rooms to intimate breakout
spaces. The result was a mix of style and purpose that left the client thrilled.

SCOPE OF WORK

RFP was responsible for designing, fabricating, and installing custom intersectional drapery, including:
• An effective, intricate layout of custom drapery tracks
• Multiple configurations to allow for multiple uses of space
• Drapery with desired ripple fold fabricated at RFP facility
• Clean, easy-to-use hideaway feature inside walls

PROCESS

RFP worked closely with the client directly to fulfill their design and functionality requirements, including:
• Collaboration with Points design team to establish aesthetic style, colour, and mood
• Communicative process to configure tracks to meet spatial needs for a variety of scenarios
• Comprehensive testing prior to installation to preserve existing ceilings
• Creating innovative opening and closing mechanisms for drapery tracks
• Consultations with multiple stakeholders and implementation of recommendations to meet building safety and fire codes

RESULT

  • Project completed on time and on budget
  • Building safety measures prioritized and exceeded
  • Custom drapery panels fabricated and assembled efficiently
  • Successful installation to protect existing ceiling
  • Effective use of space for multiple needs, from a large gathering to small group breakout rooms
