The Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) is a globally renowned cultural event that welcomes thousands of film industry professionals, celebrities, and audiences each year. RFP Design Group was engaged to deliver a custom furniture solution tailored to the festival’s high-profile VIP lounges, hospitality spaces, Varda Cafe, and networking areas. Our focus was on creating a premium, comfortable, and stylish environment that reflects the exclusivity and prestige of TIFF.

Design & Execution

  • Custom Bar Stools & Dining Chairs:
    • Built with kiln-dried hardwood frames for long-lasting durability.
    • Upholstered in premium Mayer Fabrics commercial-grade leather.
    • Enhanced with brushed brass footrests and anti-slip glides for stability.
  • Banquette & Sofa Seating:
    • Designed with ergonomic cushioning and high-density foam for all-day comfort.
    • Stain-resistant luxury upholstery for easy maintenance in high-traffic areas.
    • Custom dimensions tailored to fit TIFF’s lounge layouts seamlessly.

  • Custom Dining & Lounge Tables:
    • Solid wood tabletops finished with Octolux brushed gold and bronze laminates.

Challenges & Solutions

  • Challenge: Furniture needed to withstand continuous use over multiple days.
  • Solution: Used reinforced hardwood frames, stain-resistant fabrics, and commercial-grade finishes to ensure longevity.

  • Challenge: Seating must remain aesthetically refined while providing superior comfort.
  • Solution: Integrated multi-layer foam densities and premium ergonomic designs to enhance guest experience.
  1. Meeting TIFF’s Tight Installation Deadline
  • Challenge: Installation had to be completed before the festival’s opening.
  • Solution: Implemented a prefabrication and modular assembly approach, ensuring all pieces were delivered and installed on time with minimal disruption.

The TIFF Custom Furniture Project successfully elevated the festival’s VIP spaces, creating a refined yet functional environment for some of the film industry’s biggest names.
