Overview
Bocado Collingwood is a Spanish inspired dining destination in downtown Collingwood, serving seasonal food alongside cocktails and regional wines. The interior direction leans into warm, hacienda-referential comfort with natural textures and a celebratory, linger-friendly atmosphere.
RFP’s scope focused on the upholstered seating ecosystem that defines the guest experience across multiple zones: the main dining room, bar, and wine cellar. The deliverable was a modular, serviceable seating system designed to take real hospitality wear, maintain a tight visual language across zones, and support operational realities like fast resets, cleanability, and long-term maintenance cycles.
Scope
-
Main Dining and Collector’s Dining
-
Modular banquettes (Type A to C): Segment-based runs designed to combine into a continuous seating rhythm while staying manufacturable, shippable, and serviceable.
-
Long perimeter banquette run (approx. 60 ft): A continuous, hospitality-grade span supporting high-density dining while maintaining a tailored profile.
Bar
-
Bar banquette (approx. 12 ft): Metal-faced base with reveal detailing to resist scuffs and keep the lower sightline crisp.
Wine Cellar
-
U-shaped banquettes (qty 2): Group-friendly configurations designed to anchor cellar zones and create contained conversation pockets.
-
Cellar sofas (qty 6): Lounge-forward pieces featuring decorative solid walnut with rattan, plus coordinated upholstery zoning for seat, back, and pillows.
-
Materials and Finishes
Bocado’s seating palette was designed to read rich up close, photograph beautifully, and hold up under daily service.
Key finishes used in the seating scope:
-
Walnut finish: Matched to an approved sample for continuity across exposed wood and feature elements
-
Velvet upholstery: Cotton-pile velvet selected for depth, texture, and light play
-
Accent upholstery and pillow fabric: Viscose-polyester-cotton blend textile for contrast and layering
-
Base protection metal: Polished chrome-plated metal at the kick zone (1/8 inch thickness) for scuff resistance and easy wipe-down

How We Engineered It
-
Substrate discipline for longevity
Birch plywood structural cores with solid wood reinforcement where fastening and load demand it, reducing long-term looseness and helping modules stay square through repeated service cycles. -
Comfort that stays consistent
Commercial foam at 1.8 lb density targeting comfort with memory, minimizing premature collapse under daily use. -
Base strategy that keeps furniture looking new
High-contact lower zones protected with plated metal kick surfaces and crisp reveal conditions, reducing visible wear and speeding up cleaning. -
Finish continuity across seating families
Walnut matched to an approved sample so exposed elements read as one continuous palette across zones.
